2009 International Cities' Fashionable Gifts and Souvenirs (Creation, Design ＆ Communication) Summit

In order to further communicate thematic creations and gift (souvenir) designs of DEVNET Pavilion of 2010 Shanghai World Expo, promote interaction between Expo and creations, and seize turning point to advance industries of urban fashion and creation, the 2009 International Cities' Fashionable Gifts and Souvenirs (Creation, Design＆ Communication) Summit was held in the Ramada Plaza Gateway Shanghai, on Nov. 6th ,2009, with the theme "fashionable gifts, creative Expo". Several well-known fellowships such as DEVNET Pavilion of 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Shanghai International Fashion Federation, the Arts and Crafts Association Union of 16+n Cities along Yangtze River Delta etc. gathered with representatives of creative industry, offerting suggestions and strategies for "fashionable gifts, creative Expo".

The summit was co-sponsored by Devnet Association---- an Executing Agency of United Nations Development Program, DEVNET Pavilion of 2010 Shanghai World Expo and Arts and the Crafts Association Union of 16+n Cities along Yangtze River Delta. The associate director of Shanghai People's Congress and first commissioner of Bureau of Shanghai World Expo, Mr. Zhou Yupeng paid a special visit to the summit to offer congratulations. More than 200 representatives including government officials, artists and enterprisers attended the related forums. Mr. Zhou Yupeng, Mr. Gao Guoqiang, Mr. Shen Guocheng, Mr. Ge Zhicai, Mr. Sun Weimin, etc. delivered splendid speeches in this forum.

The “2009 International Cities' Fashionable Gifts and Souvenirs (Creation, Design ＆ Communication) Summit” aimed to study and discuss the way to reflect the chracteristic and individuality of Chinese cities on a whole, upgrade the design originalities of gifts and souvenirs of Chinese cities, and create business opportunities for gifts and souvenirs at home and abroad. Sponsors hoped these creative, fashionable, cheap and elegant gifts and souvenirs would be appreciated during the Expo, and they also expected organizations and consumers would be satisfied with their productions in specialized markets. “European Exotic Town of DEVNET Pavilion called together famous brands from western countries in this summit. Sponsors collected designing schemes, invited famous exploiters to sharing market resources, for the purpose of continuing Expo ideas, establishing new Electronic Commerce platform under Exop on line.

The contents of this summit were as follows: gifts and souvenirs from different countries, provinces, regions and cities; souvenirs of different cities; fashionable decorations; little works of arts; manual artworks; creative information exchanges of souvenirs in foreign pavilions and international organization pavilions, etc. All these fashionable creations were considered as issues with commercial value.

Several subsidiary forums were held during the summit, involving academic reports, related industrial research, project introduction of DEVNET Pavilionn, etc. In the next two days, more than 200 representatives shall carry out individual in-depth discussions about sectors mentioned above adhering to the tenet of this summit---- fashionable gifts, creative Expo. Participants hoped to find out reasonable solutions for vigorous promotion of gift and souvenir industry throught this summit.
