DEVNET Investigating Tour to Jixi, Anhui Province
On May, 20th, 2009, an investigating tour was led to Jixi, Anhui upon invitation of Jixi vice county chief Mr. Wang Yong. Mr. Gao Guoqiang, director of DEVNET Association Affairs Coordination Bureau&General Representative of Shanghai 2010 World Expo DEVNET Pavilion (DEVNET Pavilion) and Mr. Li Shien, vice director of DEVNET Bureau and Executive Director of DEVNET Pavilion, held an interactive meeting on international cooperation between Jixi government and DEVNET Pavilion. Representatives from Administrative Committee of Jixi Development Zone, Jixi Committee of Reform and Development, Bureau of Finance, Land and Resources Bureau, Investment Attracting Bureau, Bureau of Tourism and other related units attended the meeting.
After extending his welcome to Mr. Gao and his group, Mr. Wang outlined the present situation, economic development situation as well as geographical and economical advantages of Jixi. He said, Jixi, as a county base, has formed a new industrial base and realized agriculture industrializaton after years’ of hard work, then he introduced the industrial park which had started since August, 2008, by now, the preliminary work has basically ended and the investment attracting work is in full swing. He hoped 2010 World Expo would bring great opportunity for the industrial park, and stressed that a number of railways would be built through Jixi in the near future, which would no doubt make Jixi an important transport hub in Anhui Province.
Then Ms. Zhou Xiaohong, vice county chief of Jixi, introduced their tourism industry. She summed up the characteristics of Jixi in five words, “small, profound, graceful, intelligent and smooth”. Jixi, although a small county covering only 1120 square kilometers, is endowed with a long history which gave birth to Jixi’s profound culture. Whether you walk into a village, or open a stone, you would either discover a dynasty or open a page of history. Besides the rich intangible cultrual heritage, Jixi is endowed with geographical advantage. Located between Huangshan and Tianmushan, Jixi cultivated not only beautiful landscapes, but also outstanding and talented people such as historic celebrities from Hu family. Ms. Zhou’s richly embellished with allusions and quotations, deeply captivated the audience.
After listening to their reports, Mr. Gao ernestly hoped that the opreation of DEVNET Pavilion would help with the development of Jixi county. To stimulate inner demand and realize industrial structure transfromation, Mr. Gao hoped that Jixi people would open their mind and enter into Expo. Later he introduced how the success of previous World Expos helped with the progress of human civilization, the design and operation situation of DEVNET Pavilion, and highlighted, what DEVNET Pavilion exhibited is far more than ordinary projects, but mature projects that had been proved successful. He then outlined projects relating to the development of Jixi county. Moreover, Mr. Gao attached great importance to Jixi’s tourism industry and vividly compared Jixi to the back garden of Shanghai. He encouraged Jixi government to give full play to the unique geographical, historical and cultral advantage, seize the opportunity of World Expo and develop Jixi into a typical tourist attraction.
Having gained a profound understanding of World Expo after listening to Mr. Gao’s introduction, leaders of Jixi government asked related questions one after another. Mr. Wang again appreciated Mr. Gao for not only bringing information about the Expo, but also opened their mind and broadened their vision. He earnestly wished to bring in part of the mature projects of DEVNET Pavilion for the benefit of Jixi county. Finally, Mr. Gao suggest interactive and efficient project cooperation would be generated for better development of Jixi county.
