DEVNET Pavilion Signed International Cooperation Contract with China Development and Promotion Center for City and Town Well-off Life

On May 29th, 2009, the International Partnership Signing Ceremony was successfully carried out between Shanghai 2010 World Expo DEVNET Pavilion (DEVNET Pavilion) and China Development and Promotion Center for City and Town Well-off Life. Mr. Gao Guoqiang, director of DEVNET Association Affairs Coordination Bureau&General Representative of DEVNET Pavilion; Mr. Gao Zhanxiang, former Standing Deputy Minister of Chinese Culture Ministry, Executive Consultant of China Development and Promotion Center for City and Town Well-off Life; Mr. Li Desheng, legal person of China Development and Promotion Center for City and Town Well-off Life; and Mr. Du Yanji, director of Investigation Office of Chinense Outstanding Hundred Town and City attended the ceremony.

Soon after extending his welcome to Mr. Gao Zhanxiang and his group, Mr. Gao Guoqiang introduced the latest progress of International Organizations Pavilion in the Expo, DEVNET organization and structure as well as exhibiting content and theme of DEVNET Pavilion. When talking about September. 8th, 2010 --- the Special Day of DEVNET Pavilion (also the ten year anniversary of Millennium Development Goals), Mr. Gao explained that DEVNET has the sacred mission and obligation to advocate and promote the realization of Millennium Development Goals(MDGs). That’s why a series of mascots concerning the MDGs like Millennium Baby and Millennium Panda were selected. Meanwhile, Mr. Gao considers that World Expo is a favorite opportunity to promote Chinese culture, and DEVNET Pavilion, as an independent Pavilion, is obliged to display the long history and splendid culture to the world. Then he introduced several culture-related project in DEVNET Pavilion, wishing to get support and inspiration from Mr. Gao Zhanxiang.

After listening to Mr. Gao’s introduction, Mr. Du indicated that nowdays Asia plays a significant role in the United Nations. China has experienced many a trials and adversity since the day she entered the United Nations, but now it’s a time when Chinese people could stand upright and be proud for who we are. Not only because we have many Chinese compatriots who work in the United Nations, but also because these compatriots all share the same patriotic mind. He showed his sincere respect to Mr. Gao for his persevere and unwearied spirit for the rising of our motherland. He also emphasized that Chinese government attached same importance to the Expo as to the Olypics, and Chinese executive party would exert itself to make the 2010 World Expo another splendid “Olympics” Therefore, China Development and Promotion Center for City and Town Well-off Life also make much account of this signing ceremony.

Mr. Gao Zhanxiang expressed his opinion on culture-related activities to be held during the Expo. He said Olypic Games provided Chinese culture a grand stage to display its glamour condensed over 5,000 years, and the Expo is another “Olympics” in the ecnomic field. Since Chinese culture industry account for one third of Chinese whole industry, the 2010 Shanghai World Expo is a grand opportunity to exhibit the essence of Chinese culture. And to combine DEVNET Pavilion and culture industry is not only Mr. Gao’s responsibility, but also the responsibility of the whole Chinese people.

After the meeting, the two sides signed international cooperation agreement and indicated that futher discussion would be carried out later.
