On-line research: Number of Expo Visitors May Exceed 70,000,000
38% of Chinese interviewed expressed intention of visiting, each would spend over 1,500 RMB.
According to Shanghai Morning Post, an on-line research carried out yesterday indicated that 38% of Chinese interviewed intended to visit Shanghai World Expo, and 8% have confirmed to come. To make an estimation on this scale, actual visitors to the Expo would be more than the formerly estimated 70,000,000.
This research also indicated that besides ticket fees, the average expenditure (on taking part in various activities, enjoying gourmet and buying goods from other countries) the interviewees plan to spend would be as much as 1,522 RMB.
Most of the Chinese interviewees are looking forward to the Expo, among which 80% wishes to experience and have close contact with the art and culture of different countries, and 72% of them are full of interest and curiosity with the exhibition of high and new technology.
The research shows that interviewees have strong interest in all countries, among which 78% shows special interest in European countries and 64% in Asian countries. Among European countries, French and England Pavilion are the most expected.
Five countries receive the most concern, namely the US (51%), France (41%), England (38%), Japan (36%) and Egypt (34%).
This research is launched by Huatong Millward Brown and Ogilvy Public Relations from Feburary to mid-March and has received 13,991 pieces of effective answers.
